Melinda was rushing home from work, only to be caught in the middle of a werewolf attack. While she managed to escape unharmed, she had an eyewitness account of Athena's death. The death of the Auror inspired a new song. The August heat sent Mel into the Leaky for a drink where she runs into Lavender. Mel was attacked outside the record store and to get her mind off it, she attended the auction fundraiser.

The apothecary is robbed and Melinda goes to help out, only to have her father beat her. Susan stops by to visit Melinda. A few weeks later, Melinda's cousin is found dead. The news distracts her from work. She receives sympathy owls from Blaise and Susan. The two Hufflepuffs decided to visit Hannah in the hopes of getting a music gig at the Leaky.

Mandy owls about rehearsal. Melinda celebrates her birthday at the 3B's. Blaise surprises her with an invitation to France for a business holiday. Restricted Section finally meets up again.

Melinda settles into life and plays around in her flat. She treats herself to dinner and meets Sam. Melinda misses her friends, so she sends Hannah an owl. After no response, she decides to hunt Hannah down at work.

Melinda meets up with Blaise so he could hear her play. As a consequence, she is disowned and must beg Draco for a place to live. Luckily, she was able to find a job. She meets up with the band mates and they decided on a name; Restricted Section.

Melinda holds auditions with Mandy and Josh. Blaise takes her to Tracey and Oliver's party. One of the store birds were sick and Melinda takes it to the animal hospital. She sends off some owls before receiving one herself.

Melinda meets up with Mandy and Josh about a band. Lisa and Melinda run into each other. In her attempt to avoid people on Valentine's Day, she runs into Blaise at the Hog's Head. Melinda sends off an owl to Susan. She has a fight with her parents while at dinner. Blaise invites Melinda to a party.

Melinda goes to a muggle nightclub for an open mic night and runs into Mandy. Lisa resigns from the apothecary, which prompts her to owl Draco Malfoy about a job. Needing to get out, she visits Hannah for a drink or five. Melinda sends off some owls

Melinda walked into her new position and ran into Theo. She spent a night out with the other Puffs as well as the holiday. The New Year almost dawns on some writer's block."
